Wukimon first released the song "Flute of Krishna" on the Agni EP. At just 1 minute and 15 seconds the song was intended as a short instrumental interlude between the tracks "Holy" and "High". However, "Flute of Krishna" soon started to get a life outside the context of the EP. The track became popular as music for meditation, and people started asking why on earth the song was so short. The original recording of the song had in fact been a 10 minute long piece of contemporary classical minimalism, but the recording was cut down drastically for the Agni EP. Making a longer version was thus simple enough, the difficult part was finding a place for it. Wukimon eventually decided to release the extended version of "Flute of Krishna" on its own, as an online single. The track was released on Mininova together with the track "The Bells".

Worldly acclaimed as one of the best interpreters of Frédéric Chopin, Arthur Moreira Lima also had success in the field of popular music. At nine he won a soloist contest promoted by the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira (Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra) with a Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart concert. In 1952 he won the contest again, interpreting a Ludwig Van Beethoven concert. In 1956 he won a Rádio MEC contest, winning a scholarship from the Brazilian government to study in Paris, France, with Marguerite Long. In 1962 he got the third place in the III International Piano Contest (Rio de Janeiro), being invited to work as the assistant to professor Rudolf Keres at the Moscow Conservatory (then U.S.S.R.A.), position that he held for the next three years. In 1965 he got the second place at the Frédéric Chopin International Contest (Warsaw, Poland). Returning to Moscow, he continued his studies until 1970, when he moved to Vienna, Austria, when he started his acknowledged career as an international concerto player. His activities in popular music included a celebrated mid-seventies English recording of Ernesto Nazareth's works (Nazareth being himself deeply influenced by Chopin), the no less important association with Elomar, Heraldo do Monte and Paulo Moura in the ConSertão series, and the performances/recordings with Rafael Rabelo, Época de Ouro, Nelson Gonçalves and Ney Matogrosso. ~ Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide.

Pollini's traversal of Chopin's 19 Nocturnes (he leaves out the pair of posthumous ones) is one of his finest recordings in years. His long-lined yet detailed performances are comparable to the very different ones that have long stood at the pinnacle of recorded sets. Not as serene as Artur Rubinstein's, not as philosophical as Claudio Arrau's, nor as warm as Ivan Moravec's, Pollini's interpretations have their own allure. One is the way he shapes the melodies with a natural flow enhanced by his tonal beauty, less lean and streamlined than his usual way with Romantic music. Another is his careful attention to dynamics, as in the subtle gradations of tone found in Op.9 No.1, Op. 15 No 2, and others in the set. Yet another is his detailed articulation that yields trills of feathery lightness and brings out inner details without unduly spotlighting them. His pianissimo playing is radiant, pearly runs are seamlessly strung together, and climaxes like that in Op. 37 No.1 ring out boldly. And this paragon of the objective modern style indulges in discreet rubatos that bring life to the musical line and make you feel the music behind the notes. --Dan Davis

Maurizio Pollini was born in Milan on 5 January 1942. His father was the architect Gino Pollini, one of the leading representatives of Italian rationalism and also an expert violinist. His mother, Renata Melotti, studied piano and singing and was the sister of the well-known sculptor Fausto Melotti, who had a lasting influence on the young Pollini. In 1948 Maurizio Pollini received his first piano lessons from Carlo Lonati. From 1955?59 he continued his studies with Carlo Vidusso and in 1958 he began to study composition with Bruno Bettinelli. In 1960 he was awarded the first prize at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw and appeared at La Scala, Milan, playing Chopin?s First Piano Concerto under Sergiu Celibidache. Since then Maurizio Pollini has become one of the most admired and respected pianists of our time and has appeared all over the world with leading orchestras and conductors. He is particularly renowned for his innovative concert programmes which champion works by contemporary composers and contrasts these with those of the Classical and Romantic eras.
